When the air strikes are insufficient, ineffective and unimpressive, and when UNSCR 1973 sets the tone of "no boots on the ground" the obvious decision is intensive, bold, hit-and-run elite forces doing the job in Gaza. No tanks, no infantry, no APCs, no cannons. This is the hour for confronting cynical, assymetrical warfare by Hamas, Islamic Jihad and PRC with the IAF in combination with the best elite forces and the field experience of both Shin Bet and AMAN. If the IDF is indeed one of the best armies, if it has superb elite commandos, if its defense minister and prime minister are ex-commandos themselves, then the hour has come. This is neither Cast Lead nor Lebanon 2006. This is more like a long-haul Entebbe 2.0. where saving Shalit, if impossible, renders pinpoint attacks necessary: on the true terror infrastsructure, not the empty Hamas posts, bombed five times already, like today. The Israeli intelligence community knows what and where, and often even when. It should take advantage that Gaza isn't just crowded and suffocating, but small and doable. Commandos in total darkness and stealth, can do what the IAF can't and what infantry troops turn invariably bloody, which brings the hypocrites and their outcry. BTW The commandos should first find in Israel where the two Iron Dome batteries are, steal them from the boneheads who are storing them for whatever fishy reasons, and deploy them immediately.
