It should be obvious that any further idiotic attempts by the Abbas crew to reject the centrality of their obligation for recognition of Israel's right to exist as the Jewish State will end all negotiations, with no bail out from Bush or anybody else. I mean, does anybody seriously think there would have been an Oslo, with the PLO being recognized by Israel and its leaders returning from exile in Tunis, if they had taken this position in 1992????? This is the #1 and only core issue - do the "Palestinians" and the rest of the Arab-Muslim world now accept the moral centerpiece of the original 1947 Partition, or not? Do they accept that the Jews have exactly the same right as the Arabs to an independent state in colonial Palestine, or not? Nothing is going anywhere until there is crystal clarity on this. Israel has agreed to an Arab State (using the original UN language, "Jewish State/Arab State"), and the Arabs must reciprocate exactly. Merely noting that Israel exists fails this test.
