As an Egyptian and neighbour of yours, whatever our differences, i salute Israeli society for its ability for self-criticism. To me, the ability to tolerate self-criticism is a sign that there is still goodness in a culture. This is dead in Egypt, and dying everywhere in the Middle East. Our humanity and capacity self-compassion and empathy for others dies whenever we can no longer see our own mistakes.
