Even if the settlers had succeeded in the three aspects that Aluf Benn mentions, there is a fourth one that would have assured the failure: the failure to offer the Palestinians in the occupied territory a future in Grand Israel. Without integrating the Palestinians as citizens with full civil rights, the settlement enterprise was doomed to become a colonial rule of the Jewish majority upon the Palestinians, accompanied with violent oppression and Apartheid. This colonial rule is at the root of the Palestinian terrorism. This failure is not only the settler's. It is the failure of all the Israeli governments since 1967. It is the failure of the media, including Aluf Benn in the present article. It is the failure of the Israeli people and public opinion. Only few visionaries, like the late Prof. Leibovitz, saw the writing on the wall, but most people didn't want to listen, and they still don't.
