The disrespect is unbelieveable of President Carter. Many of the members in this talkback have an extremely narrow definition of "pro-israel." Basically-it's you're with us or you're against us. They allow no criticism of the Israeli government-which like all government's have their faults. President Carter helped bring Israel and Egypt to the peace table. And look now-almost 30 years later and we have peace on the western border. Carter is dead-right when he demands that Israel takes the first step in the peace process. As a Western Democratic nation, Israel has the responsibility to be the "better man" in negotiations. Instead- thousands of qassams are coming from Gaza and the people of Gaza are still locked up. The Israeli Government has never understood this- their policies might work in the short-term to defend Israel-and they have every right to self-defense. However, these policies alienate millions of Arabs. Israel must have a more compassionate hand in peace.
