The danger here is that the attack on Libya has basically given a green light for Cast Lead Two in Gaza. - Comment - Israel News | Haaretz Daily Newspaper

I really thought our idiot politicians had worked out after Iraq that for civilised states, killing people as a way of trying to solve problems, has to be the very last resort, after every possible other approach has been tried. But from the speed and enthusiasm with which they signed up for Dawn Odysset I've obviously given them too much credit. The fact that Dawn Odyssey, no matter what the military outccome, will probably be a long term political failure, won't matter to Bibi's government in the short term. If the West is prepared to bomb Libya which doesn't threaten it, and on the basis of mere allegations that Gaddafi MIGHT have been about to commit massacre in Benghazi, then how can the West criticise Israel if it bombs Gaza that HAS been firing rockets? Obviously Cast Lead Two will ultimately again be a long term failure, because it still doesn't end the occupation and settlements, but that may not stop hotheads in the Israeli government. Memo to Nobel Peace Prize committee. For heaven's sake, got and get your bauble back from the White House, before the whole Middle East goes up in flames..
