The author raises an interesting point. Reactions to male circumcision are culturally generated. In cultures where circumcision is rare, there is a tendency to view it as mutilation. In cultures where it is common, most people accept it as the norm. I also think that whereas Europe is less religious, America is more so. Americans follow the Bible more, Europe not very much.
