This is a shrewd move by the Palestinians. The problem is... it ain’t gonna work. First, because acquiring a Palestinian State without ‘direct bilateral negotiations’ is like... trying to eat bread before it’s properly baked. And mostly, because the US administration ‘will veto’ the resolution. Secretary Clinton said recently... unilateral moves do not promote a lasting peace. In my opinion, these kind of one-sided moves... whether it’s Israeli West Bank settlements or UN sponsored Palestinian declaration can’t be a substitute for a negotiated resolution. The agenda for peace and co-existence can’t be imposed on the region... it needs to materialize from within. Even if, both sides have no political courage or will to do what needs to be done.
