Violence is violence is violence, like Gertrude Stein said about the rose. As to the cause of this disease, well, there is the rub. What are the symptoms that produce it, that provide the culture in which it can grow and flourish and grab hold of its host? Which comes first, the chicken or the egg, the cart or the horse. That is one argument and there are two narratives which in reality play off one another. As to the colonists, referred to as "settlers". Barbara finds the analogy to Hamas offensive. For him, the colonists are good, decent people who are peace loving. In ordeer to believe this myth, one has to completely shut out the mounds of evidence showing the multiple acts of violence, harrasment and vandalism that are carried out on a daily basis by these colonists against Palestinian civilians. This is attested to by any number of Israeli human rights organisations, B'Tzelem, Gush Shalom, Rabbis for Peace and others. These accounts, well documented are either denied or discounted. As for mass murder, the killer Goldstein massacred 29 Muslims at prayer. That has to be remembered along with Shalhevet Pas. And the grave of that killer has become a shrine, a sacred place, of a zealous righteous man in the eyes of those criminals in Hebron. nDon't forget the destruction of fields, groves, the poisoning or slaughtering of flocks, the vandalism against shops and the humiliation of the old and weak. If you look into this, you will be forced to admit that this is not the action of a few. It is a culture. A culture and it is behaviour which is rewarded. As for the level of violence
