If, or when the Palestinians established their state within internationally recognized borders that are thus fixed, the State of Palestine will come under the rules of international law. If they launch a cross border aggression against Israel, then Israel will be well within its rights to defend itself. Final borders also mean an end to the conflict and an end to any claims of occupation, which gets us back to any cross border aggression by Palestine. The reality is Israel gains as the international community will support the peace terms, and Palestinians will have nothing to do but build their state. Israel's isolation will end, and this will include opening borders and trade with the Arab world. OR, we can continue to blindly and mindlessly build settlements and bring on the demise of Israel as Jews become a minority between the river and the sea.
