If Israel would agree to enter into negotiations and to the reutrn of all occupied land (not a colony here or a hilltop outpost there) how would Iran remain a threat. Iran has more reason to fear an attack from the US or Israel than Israel does from Iran. To Iran Israel is an existential threat. Iran responds by saying that if attacked by Israel they will wipe it off the map. Why is no one questioning the nuclearr power in the region from whom many of the terrorists stem and where they are trained-Pakistan? Well, Pakistan is an ally in bushies "war on terror", thats why. Iran will have nuclear weapons and no one, not the US nor Israel will impede that from happening. Lets try and solve the core problem-the Israel/Palestine conflict. As for Benn's premise that if the US carries out an attack on Iran, Israel will be pressured to withdraw, its a non-starter. If theUS attacks Iran, they wont be in a position to tell Israel what to do. Iran would see it as a provocation& attack Israel.
