After reading the article and assuming that most of the details are in the ball park, the inescapable conclusion, as if it was not clear long ago, is that peaceful coexistence with the Palestinians is not in the cards. The Israeli public and its leaders have settled quite comfortably into a steady state of very low confrontational risk. Few Kassem here and there, disinterested world in the conflict, a taken for granted US support in every which way and a few disgruntled Israelis who are talking to the walls. Only a major outbreak of hostilities will (probably) wake up the Israeli public from its somnolence and apathy. For the Israeli leadrship it is manna.
