Its not just a yes or no referendum saying do we give up the land YES / NO there are 3 different options for the politicians. 1) A referendum and we don't know what that will say it could be full of get out clauses like the result only last for a certain number of years etc. 2) If a 2 third majority of MKS are in favor of giving it up. 3) Hold a general election and packaging the Golan & Jerusalem into the same bill means the government can argue they have support of the people to give away both. The politicians will chose the solution which they think they have most chance of winning -- if they want an excuse to divide Jerusalem then go to Assad you can have anything you want we just need a deal so the government choses 1 of the 3 options avalible and it they can do a quick and simple deal with Assad then they can also say we have the authority to divide Jerusalem also. If they want to get rid of the Golan all they need to do is find a way to give Jerusalem to the palestinians and the Golan is also history in exchange for Nobel Prizes and US presidential legacies. The politicians were never serious about a referendum on the Golan otherwise the bill would have applied to the Golan only and there would be no get out clauses it would be should we give up the Golan YES / NO and then they would have accepted the decision of the people as final. This bill is more of an excuse for the leftists to have lots of different options how to give up the Golan & Jerusalem and claim at the same time it was the will of the people when in reality it w as just a big con.
