The fact that an Arab was elected to Israel's supreme court and has the freedom to *not* sing Hatikva shows that Israel's democracy is, despite all the odds, still alive and well. Politicians can say whatever they want to say- that, too is their right in a democracy. However difficult it might be, the rule of law is holding this complicated picture together.
