"The Arabs were called upon to forgo national sovereignty...in part of the country, and to make do with equal rights as citizens of a Jewish state." Excuse me, but what is so wrong with that? Especially since they had already been "making do" with such rights in British and Ottoman states for hundreds of years. The author just has a problem with the area being under Jewish administration? For that matter, even when the Arabs ruled Palestine, the Palestinians were considered a subject people and not real "Arabs", just a like they are today (throughout the Arab countries they are considered the scum of the Arab world. That's why so many of them move to Western Countries when they emigrate).
