The Six Day War was an accident. Neither side wanted it. It was the child of deliberate Soviet disinformation. Most have now forgotten that the LAST thing Israel wanted was for Jordan to join the war. Yet when Jordan made that foolish decision, it left Israel with little option but to push to the best defensive line, the Jordan. That action was quite rational, reasonable, and inevitable at the time. It has turned out to be a catastrophe for both Israel and the residents of the West Bank. Israel and Jordan are now at peace. Israelis kids don't have to sneak into Petra anymore. Israel is at peace with Jordan, but not that part of Jordan it occupied in 1967. What a shame.
