Yesterday was both Pessach and Christmas for the media and all the pundits. Obama talked to AIPAC (poor Jstreet!). He talked. Bla bla bla. Elections. Votes. Contributions. Clichés. And the 1967 Obsession Syndrome. Swaps and wasps. Listen: the most important part of Obamas message was not the empty sentences about 1967, but that he killed the PA UN September plan. Second: Hamas must end terror and recognize Israel. 3: Abbas and PA simply can´t stay away from direct negotiations with Israel about the details. Well, there you have it Back to basics: No imposed solution. Binyamin Netanyahu has scored some good points these days. But even if Obama killed the PA UN September plan (and we know that Merkel earlier also has expressed her objections to the this idea), september could still be messy. The ball rolls over to he palestinian court: will Hamas and others launch violence and terror out of frustration with "Obama and the jews/zionists", or what? Will Hamas save Netanyahu (by remaining intransigent islamists), or will they bring him and the government down (by ending terror and joining the diplomatic table for sincere negotiations)? Time will tell. And what about the europeans? Rather weak, pale and irrelevant - no?
