It is clear that if the accused were from e.g. Shas, or e.g. Balad, no one within the mainstream establishment would stir a whisper, and everyone would be screaming (rightly) for justice. The same goes for Hanegbi. As an innocent he should be defended. As guilty he needs to face the music. This is called a healthy democracy in action. The courts need to send a very clear message to our politicians that we must remain above the law. And even if it means sending half of them to prison or at least out of political service, so be it. Our democracy will only become stronger in the long run. It is my opinion that today's judgment will be a test case that will determine the fabric of future corruption in politics - Hanegbi must be given the fullest punishment for his actions, and I am sorry that he will have to go.
