Thank you for a sane, lucid summing up of our national dilemma, with which one can identify completely. However there is one salient point that begs further clarification. You refer to the difficulty that the religious right has in accepting "the secular concept of the Jewish state and the concept of human rights". However, being secular does not necessarily preclude the concept of God and the belief in Him, and implicit in this belief is the certainty that He does not condone the monstrous ongoing suffering that the religious settlers are imposing on our neighbors, the Palestinian people.
