Hard to understand why Israel doesn't see what the rest of the world does. Lebanon 2 and Cast Lead were short-term victories for Israel and long-term disasters. Sure they stopped the rockets, but they also entirely destroyed world public support for Israel outaside the world's Jewish communities. A country can't survive that kind of political damage for long. Israel, almost unbelievably, decided the only thing it did wrong in Lebanon 2 was not be brutal enough. The result was Cast Lead. If Israel now decides the only thing it did wrong in Cast Lead was not being brutal enough, the result will be some even worse operation a few years down the line. At that point Israel will have sanctions imposed on it by the world. Better to be humble and learn the real lessons of Cast Lead. We all make mistakes sometimes. Even Israel.
