Israel scored so many brownie points worldwide with the exchange and now there will be another. 70+ Egyptians for the American Israeli so we should be well pleased. The next 550 prisoners to be released will be those nominated by Israel and hopefully they will give Abbas some carrots. It would be brilliant if they doubled the ante and rewarded "good behaviour". i.e released 2056 to the West Bank. I wrote this some time ago on some blog or other and now other voices are beginning to say much the same. All the old (over 60), all the young (under 18), anyone held without charge for more than 6 months, anyone who has served more than 20 years etc. A number of dangerous prisoners have already been released into custodial care in the West Bank and have been kept there in prison. No more revolving doors. Not pardoned as in this deal. It would empty the Israeli prisons, save a hell of a lot of money and we wouldn't have any prisoners left with which to bargain. Therefore no need to kidnap more soldiers! But I guess that scenario is too logical.
