The writer thinking is about the 'tragedy' for Israel to pay a 'territorial price' That's the typical Israeli Establishment's obsession by 'more land' which reaches its top with Mr Netanyahu the 'moderate' (!) That's the problem. The Israeli Establishment always preferred a little more land to peace and consequently to total securtiy for Israel. What's better, a little more land or general peace? That's the question. Let's imagine a general Middeast dream reached : a fair and general peace between Israel and all the Arab countries is concluded with the 'tragic' (!) 'territorial price' Israel will pay. Is there a threat possible from Iran to Israel any more? (Despite the present threat is still imaginary). So where is Israel's interest? I assume it's in a genral peace with a ridiculous 'territorial price'.
