I am a young American Jew studying here in Tel Aviv, and I applaud Thomas Friedman for saying what many of us have been thinking for years. It's very simple. Those of us that are raised Jewish (and many of us these days are raised Jewish outside of synagogues or have non-Jewish parents, making us ineligible for the Law of Return) are taught that we as Jews believe in tolerance, compassion, and wisdom. Increasingly, none of these values can be seen in Israeli leadership. I am studying here in Israel and I know they are not absent among the people here. Why are you letting this happen?
