The man should not have been fired but he should have been reprimanded and told there is no place in the classroom for a teachers political ideology be it left or right wing ideology. Teachers are there to teach facts not tell the students what they personally believe in because politicos is about personal opinion. If there is to be a class debate students should do the talking with the teacher playing no role other than to steer the debate make sure the subject doesn't go off topic and make sure everybody has their say. The teacher can tell his colleagues anything he wants, he can go out protesting on a Saturday night but in class a teacher has no political opinions. The government needs tokay down clear guidelines now on exactly what a teacher can or cannot do, this teacher should be offered to keep his job if he wishes but on no account is he to discuss his personal political opinions with the students.
