Sadly, it seems to me Israel is afraid that any attempt, and I mean any, that could stengthen a potential partner, give that partner viability, and lead to a referendum that the Palestinian people accept is too fearful for them. A real two state solution with a viable Palestinain state and a weakening of extremism is not as important as holding onto large portions of the West Bank. How else could any reasonable person explain this? What is there to lose? There is no obligation for action in such negotiations only an obligation to see what the other side would find acceptable and put it to the test in a referendum. I believe in Israel...but only someone so blinded by an "Israel is right no matter what" would not take an opportunity to weaken the lunatics and fanatics that such terrorists like Mr. Meshal, most and maybe all in Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc. Maybe these terrorist groups serve Israel's purpose in justifying a real desire to expand regardless of the cost? How sad...
