It is interesting that the most avid proponents of peace between Israel and the Muslim World never mention the Islamic doctrine of death to infidels. Although some academics have claimed that "infidels" does not pertain to people of the book, i.e. Christians and Jews, the recent fatwas issued by Islamic clerics make clear their belief that "infidels" includes Christians and Jews, and, in fact, even Muslims. The Sunnis and the Shiites each consider the other to be infidels, and they have been killing each other for centuries, for that reason. The reason that "peace" advocates do not mention the Islamic doctrine is that they know that it is a cornerstone of Islamic belief, and is not negotiable. But, rather than admit that there is no prospect for peace with a people whose religion calls upon them to kill those who do not follow their religion, they continue to call for peace, because it feels good and it sounds good.
