They are the weak link between Hezbollah and Iran. The Sunni majority in Syria, some 90% of the population, would be unlikely to form a close alliance with Hezbollah and Iran, as have the minority Alawites. The USA and Israel should support, secretly if necessary, a popular resistance movement within Syria to topple Bashir Assad and the Baathist dictatorship. This may prove a lot more productive in the long term than chasing a small force of guerillas on a wild goose chase all over Lebanon. It's time to go after the troublemakers who started the whole mess, and the address is Damascus.
