I'll not get into analyses of Israeli and Syrian strength. Suffice it to say that Syria PROBABLY won't fight for one simple reason: it doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning anything. Its politicians may be blustering Baathi idiots, but its general know the balance of power. After they fire conventional missiles into Israel(causing some damage, but nothing existential); after their airforce is destoyed in the air and on the ground;after their air defense net is knocked out; after their ground forces have been mauled and pushed back dozens of kilometers from the Golan Heights; after their little navy has been sunk, then the real fun begins. For you anti-Israel Islamists and post-Colonial left-wing windbags out there, I know: Syria, Iran and North Korea are you great hope for the future. I'd bet on another horse if I were you.
