The headlines this week reeked of déjà vu, reminiscent of previous confrontations and intifadas, as conditions on the ground in Gaza are becoming more and more similar to those that preceded the 2014 war.19:05 05.02.16 | 4 comments
Israel has a surplus of political parties. Meretz, for example, is very different from Labor and Likud (Kadima stands for nothing.) Israel's parties have always reflected their members views of their environment. When the environment changes, so do their platforms. If a new PA party is really based on democracy and human rights (which remains to be seen), I believe it will have a powerful and positive effect on the Israeli political system. I'm really a skeptical optimist. Willing to see good things arise, but knowing that we must wait and see if they really do. Even if we expect and prepare for the worst, we should also hope for and give a chance to the best.
