I think you have a good point - only "good Jews" or Jews with a "politically correct" message are really tolerated in many places, and that in itself reflects our truly precarious position. We have internal arguments about this, among my friends, with people like me exquisitely aware of our "image" and afraid to speak our minds in all but the most measured terms, and others deliberately being obnoxious and provocative simply because they can - because at the moment we aren't actually being dragged into the streets and shot for the crime of being Jewish. However, the Jews of Israel, who are fighting for their existence, are routinely accused of the most heinous crimes. Many posts on this thread, for example, deplore Israeli behavior toward the Palestinians and equate it with Nazi Germany - yet how many take into account the violence directed at Israel or the brutal depiction of Jews in the M.E., which is fueling conflict? There's an essential imbalance here!
