I am an American who wants very badly for our forces to be brought out of Iraq, that our government is, in fact, wasting the lives of valiant men and women who volunteered to put their lives on the line to defend our country - and I do not believe that our invasion of Iraq had anything to do with the defense of this country. On the other hand, I believe that because that invasion of Iraq was without merit, the United States owes it to that country to do what we can to help them pick up the pieces we made. I do not know whether our continued physical presence contributes anything to that - perhaps simply giving money might be more productive - Iraqis certainly could not waste any more money than Halliburton has. But whatever is needed from us, we owe it to Iraq without getting anything in return. Is that a possibility - especially with the current administration? I don't know, but maybe I am not yet completely without hope.
