I blame Sharon et al for our current predicament in Gaza and its surroundings - not because we evacuated (we should have done this a long time ago), but Sharon is the architect of the strengthening of Hamas by not throwing Abbas a few scraps to politically strengthen him at the beginning. I currently favor trying other channels before a land invasion into Gaza. However, I don't understand the logic put forth in this article - that brining troups into Gaza will give us less resources in the Nothern Front. If war breaks out in the North, or is imminent, it is not like we need to recall our troups and tanks from Okinawa. Since last summer, there has been consistent talk of a war "next summer". Unfortunately, I agree that the probability of war "in the near future" is not miniscule, but it seems that both sides decided together that summer was the best time to have this war. If so, the silver lining is that Syria and Israel can agree on something....
