And after all this time of despising him for all the deliberate falsehoods he's peddled in the U.S. Perhaps this shows the difference between Alan Dershowitz as he seems to Americans and Israelis. For you, he might actually represent the free press in America. For us, he represents your interests at the expense of the free press. He has not shown himself to be objective, rather he is a bigot with nationalist interests. But I would not have conceived of him mounting this sort of argument in support of free press when it isn't in support of the Israeli government. I wonder if there's any point at which he could find such an open ground for sympathy for the Palestinians. If so, he might actually open a door for peace which had passed my observance. But I won't hold my breath. I suppose there are always new lessons to be learned, though the relevance may be temporary and of little effect.
