Completely false statement that Harper has demonstrated adamant opposition to unchecked abortion and gay marriage. Canada was in the forefront on both issues, and Harper, despite leading a Conservative majority has done nothing about it, whatever his personal preferences. While he is not universally loved, he is still likely to win the next election since the parties on the left hate each other more than they want to win an election. And to suggest that Australia and Canada are similar to the U.S. of George Bush ignores the many important differences, such as universal health care and gun control. Just shows how little Shalev knows about Canadian (and Australian) politics.
