"You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." - John 8:32/ "He is the freeman whom the truth makes free, And all are slaves beside." - William Cowper// The Naqba was a real disaster for the Palestinians, when they lost their land, comparable to the Jewish Churban commemorated in Tisha b'Av. Jews in Israel are offended by the fact that Israeli Arabs want to commemorate that day, and do it in proximity to Israeli Independence Day, or even taking Independence Day to be the Naqba commemoration day. The Arabs should indeed be loyal citizens, celebrating Independence Day with the rest of Israelis. But they need an outlet to mourn their Naqba Day. My suggestion: Let them use the day BEFORE Independence day as Naqba Day. Israelis commemorate the fallen soldiers and civilians (Memorial Day), so the Arab Israelis can mourn their fallen. Everybody can be satisfied with this secular mourning day.
