Without making a moral statement either way, the flaw in Sternhell's argument is very simple. Jordanian acts of confiscation were done outside of Israeli law, whereas Israeli confiscation (if it was that) was done within Israeli law. Israeli law is the law of the land in Jerusalem, and therefore only that law applies.
