Hi Stephen, I am glad you asked that question because I used to know the answer and needed a refresher. Sephardim are from Spain and left in 1492 during the Inquisition and settled in Turkey, Netherlands,France, England, America and Rhodes. Ashkenazi are from Europe other than Spain and were mostly in Germany,Poland, Russia, Lithuania etc. Mizrahi Jews are from the Mid East and stayed in the mostly Arab countries like Egypt, Morocco,Tunisia, Iraq etc. It is amazing how well they were treated until the 20th century. They also have a more Semetic appearance due to less intermarriage. I believe those Mizrahis are called Sephardic in Israel and in the same lump category as the ones from Spain. Clear as mud?
