To MM: The Roman Catholic Church IS "the church" except with a capital C. Catholic means universal. It was started by Jesus Christ himself and meant for ALL mankind, Jew and Gentile. To Connie: Do some actual reading. To Avi- Your comments were intelligent, articulate and well thought out. Thank you. To #9: You give the pope TOO MUCH credit thinking he could influence politics in Europe. He has not had that kind of influence since the Middle Ages. Barbara: The Pope DID NOT turn his back on the Jews. He and thousands of Catholics, Protestants, and others fought for the lives of all Jews. If he turned his back on the Jews, You tell me why the leading Rabbi of Rome converted to the Church after WWII? And don't tell me it is a lie. Research it, it is true. Mary: You want everyone to stop blaming Jews for the world's misfortunes. I agree. It is not the Jews fault. But the holocaust was certainly not the Church's fault. Pius had no influence over Hitler in any way.
