Why do people constantly refer to a bogus and made up "law"? In any case, what did Israel do with the material? Did they offer peeks to Russia or other American opponents? After all, American secrets are as good as gold in the open market. This is why, when the material goes out of it's proper protective measures, there is a risk analysis performed to judge the extent of it's compromise. All of the documents Pollard gave to Israel had to be judged as compromised just as if Pollard had given them to Russia. These things are done on a very conservative, worst case, scenario. Maybe Jews don't think that "spying for an ally" is so bad if the ally is them, but in American law, the crime of espionage is very clear and makes no such special cases for Jews.
