The political system in Israel produces minority government after minority government. The current government is headed by those who came in second. 30% is a landslide in Israel. And the IDF is almost an independent branch of government, but unelected. There are lots of people in Israel who want and know how to attain peace. But the system is rigged against compromise among Israelis, let alone with adversaries. Once on the list, a politician is no longer responsible to people, only to those higher on the list. And each ministry can tell the PMO to take a flying leap; they have an independent constituency if its a coalition - which it always is, nowadays.
