Taking the money of a sponsor doesn't mean you represent the sponsor. The sponsor invests in the hope of getting something in exchange and that's usually money or reflected glory, not an expression of eternal gratitude. And in the case of any resident of Jaffa who isn't Jewish, it's hard to argue that the country represents them or their interests. Go take a look at the names on the doorbells of the plush new apartments overlooking the ocean, the religious nationalist implantations that have been sprouting like mushrooms. Roam around a bit and look at the rotting back streets, the potholes, the once beautiful buildings that are encouraged to crumble. Jaffa's no more than an hour or so away from you.
