"It all ended, said the official, when the prime minister decided to approve construction of 450 housing units in the West Bank. The president, to put it mildly, was not amused." So if he wasn't amused, why did bend the knee to Bibi and force Abbas to drop Goldstone, thus destroying Abbas, and almost inevitably guaranteeing a less moderate PA leadership? I'd love to believe you mate. I'd love to believe Obama is just waiting to come down on Bibi like a ton of bricks. But I don't. IF Obama forced the cancellation of the junket at the City of David, so what? It does almost nothing, NOTHING, to rectify the incalculable damage Obama did to peace by dropping Goldstone. By doing that he destroyed Abbas, destroyed America's reputation in the Middle East, again, destroyed early moves to impose the rule of law on the region and virtually guaranteed more violence.

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
