"Israel has learned that peace can only be achieved if it remains strong and prepared to defend itself." Well, it is clear that Israel has "remained strong" and it is very, very clear to the whole world that Israel is always "prepared to defend itself" (to the extent that this usually happens by means of pre-emptive strikes). So where is peace then? What is missing from Barak's list of requirements for peace is willingness by the dominant party in the conflict to make real concessions to the weaker party.
