A minor point first: Bulldozers can, and have been used to widen those "narrow Gaza alleys" so that tanks can indeed maneuver. A not-minor point: Sooner or later Israel will have to deal with the fact that Mahmoud Abbas/ "Abu Mazen" is not less a terrorist than Hamas or Islamic Jihad or Hezbollah, or ..., and will then have to treat him accordingly. What is to be gained by the Israeli Government's pretending that Yassir Arafat (YSh"V)'s deputy is somehow a "moderate?" He and Haniyeh differ only on HOW to destroy Israel! Were Israel REALLY to WANT to win, far more meaningful and drastic action than arresting some Arab government functionaries, or shelling empty fields, would have to be taken. I'm sure that former Chief of Staff Ya'alon. a man of INTEGRITY, would know what to do.

Israel's angry, bitter left must reclaim the language of hope

We leftists whine and complain, we only talk about how bleak and hopeless life is in Israel. We alienate all those Israelis whose support we need to bring political change.
