Some Israeli Jews may want peace, but for Israel as a nation the land gains are priceless and the small threat imposed by the militants is managable. - Comment - Israel News | Haaretz Daily Newspaper

Choosing exppansion over peace is a no brainer for Israel. That is why the idea of the Palestinians "negotiating" peace with Israel is laughable. Peace will have to be forced upon Israel by a coalition of America and the EU. If they are not willing to do this, then it is silly to talk about peace. Israel profits by avoiding peace and will invite domestic strife, high costs, and political turmoil by pursuing peace. Why in the world would Israel choose the path of peace? Which Israeli politician would invite personal ruin and family disgrace by being the one to pursue peace for real? Get real people. With the situation as it stands, with America acting as a proxy of Israel, peace is impossible until a great war comes and devestates the land so completely that people will welcome peace for real. This is how it works.
