While Olmert is not as pathetic a groupie as Britons "First Poodle", he is a fawning follower of George Bush. The key to comprehending the turn of events is to study what has happened within the Bush Junta. A few weeks ago there was a steady drum beat for war with iran. Now, with the exception of the totally delusional Darth Cheney, there is silence. The King of Saudi Arabia is making squeaky noises with the oil tap, and he has pressed hard for cooperation amongst Arabs. This pressure is not for war, or a united front against Israel or Iran. Rather the pressure has been for peace. There is no doubt in my mind that there are many in the Bush Junta or Olmert's pathetic administration, who want a war. But the fact is that the crap is stacking up against them.
