Jerusalem is the city of the Jews since ancient times. To declare that they can't build housing there is insanity. The Arabs were given half the city, though it had a plurality of Jews, and expelled the Jews, and destroyed about 50 synagogues in 1948. Condemnation, anyone? not a peep. The Israelis seek to build 1600 housing units and that's the equivalent of nuking Hiroshima. The fact is, the Arabs LOST FIVE WARS and forfeited this territory long ago. Quoting some ultra-left wing doves in the U.S. is not going to change the facts on the ground. Israel deserves and needs East Jerusalem, and it should also reclaim its ancient lands in Samaria and Judea. If the Arabs can't stand living with Jews, let them move elsewhere. They have millions of square miles of Arab countries all around there, while the Jews have just one tiny sliver of their ancient homeland. No sympathy anymore for the violent, backward Arabs who don't even have a word for "peace" in their language, apparently.
