Unless there is someone that is more knowledgeable than me, I recall that a woman can use her Ketubah as collatoral. It's documented in the Gemara, but I can't quote the folio page. It's a sticky business, and where I learned it, the couple used the Ketubah to make a purchase of land without any intention of divorce, but . . . use it as source of financing the transaction. That's as much as I know, and don't quote on the details--I may be misquoting the Source, but in principle, a Ketubah has the status of a negotiable document.
