So if Abbas recognizes Israel as a Jewish state does that mean anything other than more grief for the Palestinians? If he says that Israel is a Jewish state does that mean that the Jewish state will get out of the occupied territories and abide by UN Res. 242 which explicitly forbids the acquisition of territory by war? The Palestinians long ago recognized Israel's right to exist. Why must it be defined any further? And should Israel be recognized as an exclusivist Jewish state it will have lost any claim to be a democracy. A country based on the supremacy of one religion over another is anything but a democracy - it is a theocracy and no person who truly believes in democracy should either want to live there or have anything to do with it.
