The US has just OK'ed Egypt's action in opening the Rafah crossing. No mention of Hamas being a terrorist organisation etc. Netanyahu may have basked in the sickening applause of the US Congress but the US recognition of opening of the crossing is far more important; indirectly this is either acceptance that US must respect the will of the new Egypt and/or that it is ready to recognise that Hamas must be part of any solution; that it cannot be sidelined any more on the basis that it is a 'terrorist organisation'. Add to this Sarkozy's comment welcoming Palestinian unity, then we are getting the feel of things to come. The times certainly are changing.
